How to Remove Furniture Dents from Carpet
from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit
When a leg of a chair, bed, couch, table, or other type of furniture is placed on a carpet, it will often create an unsightly dent. This articles explains an easy, effective and cheap way to remove these problem spots.

Things You’ll Need

  • 1 ice cube per carpet dent
  • White paper towels or colorfast cloth (optional)
  • Fork (optional)

Steps

  1. Move your furniture to uncover carpet dents. [1]
  2. Drop 1 ice cube in each dent. Large or long dents may require multiple ice cubes.
  3. Let the ice cubes melt. As they melt, the nap of the carpet will begin to fluff back up, reducing (and eventually removing) the dent.
  4. Check the results the next morning. If necessary, blot up excess water with white paper towel or colorfast cloth.
  5. If the nap hasn’t recovered completely, use a fork to gently lift remaining carpet fibers.
  6. Repeat for persistent dents.

Tips

  • Always test this method first with one ice cube in an inconspicuous spot. Lift carpet corner to see that the water hasn’t damaged the under flooring.[2]
  • If some dents will not disappear, mist these spots with a water bottle and use a blow dryerwhile fluffing the area manually. [3]

Warnings

  • Be careful if you have wood floors underneath. Test a less visible spot first to make sure moisture does not damage the wood.
  • Do not use this method on hand dyed rugs, antique carpets, delicate or valuable rugs, or on fibers not compatible with water cleaning.
  • For long or deep dents that require more than one ice cube, do not flood the area with too much water.

Q: When should I empty my fridge and freezer?
A: We normally load your Fridge on towards the end of the job. This ensures the fridge comes off quickly at the drop off. All food must be emptied from the fridge and freezer section. It is a good idea to have an esky available for packing these items on the morning of your move.

If something goes wrong it voids all transit insurance.

Q: My beds may need to be taken apart?
A: Our trucks are all equipped with the necessary tools for our removalists to attend to basic dismantling and reassembly of furniture items including: bed headboards and bed frames, shelving, desks, trampolines and other standard residential and office furniture items.

Q: What if my relocation does not fit in one load?
A: In some cases, due to circumstances, two trips may be required. If this is the case, and the pick up and drop off addresses are within a short distance from each other, a second load may be required. If you have same day property settlement time constraints or if moving distance is far apart we can provide a second truck.

They come equipped with supplies to keep your belongings safe from the elements.

A: If you live on a busy street with a clearway, please notify us and we will arrange your start time accordingly.

Q: I live in a high rise apartment building with lift access. How do I make sure we can have sole use of the lifts for our move?

If possible, boxes should be labeled on 3 sides. Fragile boxes should be clearly labeled as fragile.

If you do assist and damage occurs to those items then these items are voided from our guarantee.
